Life changing event is a training resource with a powerful message -how the impact of failing to plan a safe system of operation and failing to work in accordance with training, can become a life changing event for everyone involved – not just the victim.

This film is based on the fictitious drowning of a child in a public swimming pool due to management and employee failings. After the expert gives their opinion on the underlying failings of the organisation, the focus is on the cross-examination of the pool manager and lifeguard.

The film gives an insight into the impact of cross examination and how the employees who are culpable in the tragedy must live with the memory of the event.

Life Changing Event 2

Public swimming pools and leisure centres are generally safe places to swim and drowning incidents are thankfully rare. However, this can lead staff into thinking that the worst will never happen, at least not to them. The second RLSS UK Life Changing Event film seeks to ensure that the risks of drowning are at the forefront of the minds of all professionals working in the aquatic- related industry.

The film focuses on the personal experiences of managers and staff involved in drowning incidents. This provides an incredibly powerful and compelling insight into their experiences of what happens when incidents occur.

This film is an essential tool in helping to raise standards of swimming pool safety and reducing complacency in lifeguarding.

Digital Streaming

If you purchase the digital streaming option of the films, there are a few things you need to be aware of:

Once you have purchased, you will receive an email with the link to access the film from your RLSS UK Shop account. We recommend saving this email as it is the easiest way to access the film link when you need it.

To use the film in training sessions, you will need to log into your RLSS UK Shop account. The link to download the trainer notes is also here.

The digital stream is not a download, so you cannot save it to your computer or send it to others.  You will need internet access each time you wish to show the film during training.

You cannot share the link with other trainers as it can only be accessed from your RLSS UK Shop account, but you can show the film wherever you are delivering training.

If you previously purchased a Life Changing Event 1 or 2 film in DVD format, you do not automatically get access to the digital option.
